Tessa Maagdenberg

Fascinated by the intricate ornamental designs in ancient architecture and vintage wallpaper, Tessa creates paintings that blend traditional motifs with contemporary abstract expression. Her process involves handcrafting stencils and masks to layer patterns and textures, resulting in visually complex and emotionally evocative works. Through exploration of color, form, and composition, she aims to bridge the gap between the past and present, creating art that is both timeless and thought-provoking with a rich surface history. She creates and teaches in her northern light-filled art studio near the beach in Scheveningen, the Netherlands.
